A pricing transformation is any <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vendavo.com\/pricing\/digital-pricing-transformation-driving-better-margins-in-b2b\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">project or ongoing process<\/a> designed to change or improve the technology, people, and processes surrounding price in an organization. These could be focused on one area \u2013 like cost management or apportioning, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vendavo.com\/all\/what-is-list-pricing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">list price management<\/a> customer discount or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vendavo.com\/business-needs\/rebate-management-software\/\">rebate management<\/a>, among many others \u2013 or a holistic overview of a business\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vendavo.com\/all\/the-power-of-the-price-waterfall\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">pricing waterfall<\/a>. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Whether they are specific and tactical or general and strategic, pricing transformations will seek to create change. And, they are almost always expected to result in measurable improvements in business outcomes like <a href=\"http:\/\/sales%20revenue%20and%20margin\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">sales revenue and margin<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/operational%20excellence\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">operational excellence<\/a>, or improved internal or external <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vendavo.com\/pricing\/improve-stakeholder-experience-facilitate-adoption\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">stakeholder experience<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_Goes_into_Pricing_Transformation_Projects\"><\/span><strong>What Goes into Pricing Transformation Projects?<\/strong>&nbsp;<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>What feeds into a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vendavo.com\/pricing\/digital-pricing-transformation-better-margins\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">pricing transformation project<\/a> may seem nebulous, because it involves many teams and departments throughout an organization. That means people will be needed at multiple levels to cover a variety of roles, including:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>An executive sponsor<\/strong> who commits both authority and resources to the process&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>A project team <\/strong>that\u2019s empowered to plan and use those resources to meet the project\u2019s objectives&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Stakeholders <\/strong>(internal and external) who can provide feedback on the goals and needs of the business and project as well as the results \u2013 particularly less-tangible ones such as measuring stakeholder experience&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>These project teams must create and manage a process framework to keep the pricing transformation on track to be a success. These processes are also often targets of the project\u2019s objectives.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here are some examples:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Project management framework processes, defining timescales, objectives, and executive review&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pricing process maps that feed into the project as inputs, with the expectation that these will be refined and improved&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Measurement and KPIs to understand successes (and failures!) of project outcomes and to define a system to assess this&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>You\u2019ll want to determine your measurement tactics and KPIs before beginning your pricing transformation project.
